RSD, Chronic Pain and Depression

Who We Are This groups serves the function of a support group and friend who understands the explicit needs of chronic pain sufferers everywhere. It is our endeavor to provide individuals a support system that is simple to access and available 24 hours a day. Meet the Managers  Summer   Manager/Founder RSD, Fibromyalgia, DDD, Peripheral Neuropathy - But we are not our illness. I founded this group so people would not have to suffer alone and try to make sense out of not knowing what is available to them as far as treatment options, their rights, disability claims, attorney needs, housing etc. A diagnosis of RSD/CRPS is usually met in a few ways, either the person has never heard of it (as in my case), the person is terrified and thinks they are dying, the person is under the assumption or told they are crazy or they understand the ramifications and seek appropriate treatment. This group was developed to support the entire person and their family, friends and caregivers with the challenges of living with chronic pain. Normalee Co-Manager    RSD, Fibromyalgia, Sjogren's Syndrome, SLE and Diabetes. Again, my diseases are not who I am, they just made me know what's in my heart and soul to share! Summer and I have known each other for almost seven years. We met at our state capitol fighting for support of the mental health system. I was living in an assisted living center until very recently when my daughter and I bought a house and are now living there together. This support group has empowered me to develop my independence. Through the support and knowledge based articles that have always been available but somewhat unattainable, I learned where to go and how to obtain the assistance I needed to become independent. I also received emotional support and much understanding which boosted my self-esteem to a point where I believed I "could do it". Nothing is more valuable than that! I am a manager now because I need to pass that on to others, to share what has been given to me and hopefully that empowerment will grow and one day all people with disabilities will stand proudly and proclaim their rights and be treated with dignity and respect as they should!
